1950s Netherlands Bikes Everywhere

It might be an understatement to say that bicycles are engrained in the culture of the Netherlands, as is evidenced from this video from the 1950s of bicycles everywhere you look! The Coalition loves the creative trailers and bikes used to carry kids, ice cream, goods and anything in between. Imagine if our streets looked like this, how much fun we would have all the time!

20 under 40 Winner: Dan Rivoire!

Congratulations to our Executive Director, Dan Rivoire, for being selected as one of SLO County’s “Top 20 Under 40”! The award is given annually to 20 local leaders, under the age of 40, who are great at their jobs and giving back to our communities. It’s a privilege to have Dan win the award, which will hopefully garner us some more support and prove that we really are doing our jobs well!

Check out the Tribune’s 20 under 40 article here.

Have Your [bike] Voice Heard!

A very special thank you to everyone who came out last week to support the future of bicycles at the Community Budget Forum in SLO! Your voice was heard, the Coalition was proud to represent all of our members. We had a huge presence of people who wanted to see bikeway improvements as a continued priority for the city. After all, it’s one of the reasons why San Luis Obispo has been named one of the ‘happiest places’ in the US!

COULDN’T MAKE IT LAST WEEK?

You can fill out and submit a survey online to express your interest through the city’s website here. (To send, simply click ‘submit anonymously’ button on top of the pdf). It’s quick, easy, and another way to have your voice heard to support bicycles in SLO!

Feel free to pass this information along to anyone you know who wants better bicycle facilities as well.

This is your chance to have your voice heard, if we don’t express how important bike improvements are to our community, then the Council will simply not include them in the 2011-2013 budget.
