2011 SLO GranFondo

The 2nd Annual SLO GranFondo is set for this October! This year’s ride runs along the Central Coast and enables cyclists of all abilities to ride and support ALPHA and the Coalition. We will be receiving a portion of the proceeds from the event this year, and encourage you to invite your friends for this unique Central Coast cycling experience.

The ride offers three routes to accommodate a variety of riders:

  • GranFondo: over 100 miles on a challenging ride from SLO up the northern coast to Piedras Blancas and back
  • MedioFondo: about 50 miles along the same route as the GranFondo, but returns after reaching Cayucos
  • PiccoloFondo: a 25 mile loop through countryside that unfolds onto the Morro Bay estuary

Registration is now open, (registering after September 1st will not secure you a jersey until after the event).

Regardless of your ability level, a GranFondo is an unforgettable cycling experience. The Coalition will be parking bikes in the Mission after the ride and will receive a portion of the proceeds from the event! By riding you can support both ALPHA and the Coalition!

What: Throughout the entire month of July, our neighbors at Baxter Moerman Jewelry will be donating all proceeds from watch sizings and battery replacements to the Coalition! Head to their store at 1118 Morro St in San Luis Obispo, and simply get your watch battery replaced, or resized. It’s that easy!

Why: Baxter Moerman is the only jewelry shop in town with cases of jewelry they make exclusively in house. Support these talented local jewelers and the Coalition.

July 4th Bike Parade

Morro Bay’s July 4th celebration included the 2nd annual bike parade! We were glad to be a part of the parade, and park bikes at Tidelands Park at the end of the ride down the Embarcadero. Early estimates were around 500 participants in the parade, which went from the Rock to Tidelands, as a sea of red, white & blue on two wheels! See more photos on our flickr photostream here.

June 30 Photobooth

Thursday, June 30, join us for the ‘I bike SLO’ photobooth hosted every last Thursday of the month at the Bike Valet at the Downtown Farmer’s Market in SLO. It’s a great way to show off the personal flair of your bike!
