2012 General Meeting

Mark your calendars for our first ever General Meeting. We’ll present our 2011 Annual Report, share the incredible things we accomplished last year, what we have planned for 2012, introduce our new board members, and a few surprises too!

This is a great opportunity to meet other Coalition supporters, bring a friend to introduce them to our wonderful bicycle community, learn what we’ve been up to, and hear updates on what’s ahead.

We hope to see you there, it’s going to be a great venue to share how much we accomplished last year, and the momentum we have going into 2012 to make it even better!

Host a Bike Month Event!

Each May, SLO County celebrates bicycles with BIKE MONTH. Events are hosted countywide by volunteers like you, and there is money available to make your event amazing!

The Coalition hosts events like the Bike-In Movie, Cote de Tolosa Velo Challenge, Kidical Mass, tons of Bike Ed Workshops, Bike to School days, Bike Breakfasts, and many MANY more! Join the fun, host an event in your neighborhood, the possibilities are endless and your help is always welcome.

Bike Kitchen Garage Sale

We’re cleaning out the garage for spring and will be selling a whole bunch of our extra parts in order to help get organized.

It’s the perfect place to get old wheels, frames and parts for your next project, no matter what it is!

Tools for Schools Meeting

Rideshare is hosting a free Safe Routes to School Resource meeting for anyone who wants to know the Tools for Schools.  The workshop is ideal for current School Champions and new volunteers who want to bring programs to their school. At the meeting you will:

  • Receive information on free local resources to boost your Safe Routes to School Program, including mini-grants, support and more!
  • Learn about other programs in SLO County
  • Get your specific questions answered

When: Tuesday, February 7 2012, 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Where: Community Room at the SLO Library, 995 Palm St, SLO (map)

This is a great chance to bring Safe Routes to Schools programs to your school, allowing our kids a safer, healthier way to get to school.

Do You Have Bicycle & Transit Requests?

Each year, the SLO Council of Governments (SLOCOG)  solicits requests for new and/or expanded bicycle, pedestrian and transit services. This is your chance to have your voice heard as SLO County continues to plan for future projects and programs.

WHO: YOU! (or any resident of SLO County)

HOW:

  • Submit a request online, due by February 8th
  • Submit your request by mail:
    • Attn: Tim Gillham
    • 1114 Marsh St
    • San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
  • Join us at the public hearing, February 1st at 8:30am at the Board of Supervisor’s Chambers at 1055 Monterey St in SLO (map)

We encourage your to share your ideas, in person or online! This is a great opportunity to let our local decision makers know what projects/ideas are important to you, so we can all help make SLO County a better place to live.
