Meet the Winemaker

A Delicious Benefit for the Bike Coalition

The Central Coast is truly special in so many ways. We have great places to bicycle, an abundance of mouthwatering local wines and a fantastic variety of world-class cuisine using locally produced fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood.

However, whether you commute to work, take long distance road rides or bunny hop the trails on your mountain bike, you know that there is still a long way to go to connect our towns, to improve our roads and trails countywide, and to transform SLO County into a more bike friendly place in general.

Formed 14 years ago in 2001, the Bicycle Coalition is always looking for ways to make SLO County an even better place to bike. During Bike Month we’re joining forces with two local bike-friendly businesses, Peloton Cellars and Windows on the Water, to do just that.

Why? Because both of these locally owned businesses actively support our mission to improve the quality of life in SLO County through bicycle advocacy, education and inspiration. Aside from their year-round support for bikes, both of these businesses are taking the opportunity of May’s Meet The Winemaker evening to spread the word about the SLO County Bicycle Coalition.

We invite you to join The Bike Coalition on May 8th from 5 – 7 PM at Windows on The Water in Morro Bay for one of their dependably delicious Meet the Winemaker evenings. Bill and Trish Kesselring of Peloton Cellars will pour their award-winning wines accompanied by a special pairing of Windows on The Water appetizers. Peloton Cellars will also donate 10% of sales from their Triple Ring Pinor Noir during the entire month of May to the Bike Coalition.

Wildflower Volunteers Needed!

Volunteer for the Wildflower Century

Our friends over at the San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club are seeking volunteers for the Wildflower Century on Saturday, April 25, 2015. They especially need people that can do some lifting. These jobs have “Lifting” in their name so they can easily be identified. However, everyone is welcome to volunteer for any job that might interest them or fit their schedule. All volunteers receive a T-shirt and an invitation to the Volunteer Brunch on Sunday, April 26th.
wildflowerwideTheir Century Jobs web page ( https://slobc.org/volunteering/century.html ) is a one stop location to learn about Job Openings, Job Descriptions and the Volunteer Process. Choose a job from those identified as open in the “Wildflower Team Member Report” and then email the “Wildflower Volunteer Coordinator” at ( wildflower-volunteer-coordinator@slobc.org ) to volunteer for the position. The volunteer coordinator will contact you for any information needed to complete your volunteer record.

Please let them know that The Bicycle Coalition sent you!

Volunteer at the Lighthouse Century!

Every year the San Luis Obispo Bike Club puts on not one but TWO Century rides, the Wildflower Century and the Lighthouse Century. The amount of organization and hard work that goes into these efforts is astounding. All of that effort pays off, allowing the SLO Bike Club to contribute $75,000 each year to support cycling and related causes (including The Bicycle Coalition) in San Luis Obispo County.

If you’re interested in lending your support to the Bike Club, now is your chance! Every year, 250 volunteers work to make the Lighthouse Century possible. The Bike Club is still looking for about 25 volunteers to help out on September 27th, 2014. In particular, they need volunteers capable of doing some heavy lifting (50 pounds). All volunteers will receive a Lighthouse Century T-Shirt and an invitation to attend both the volunteer brunch on Sunday, September 28th and the volunteer bike ride (the Pre-Ride) on Saturday, September 20th.

There is a list of Volunteer Job Descriptions, and general information about the Lighthouse Century here.
Ready to volunteer? Awesome! Click this link and fill out their Volunteer form! Let them know The SLO County Bicycle Coalition sent you!
